In my phone call with my partner, we compared current trends in our fields, which were aviation and IT. We also discussed current trends in Adult Education. A major theme shared in both our fields was the growing role of AI and automation. In Aviation, this includes increased use of automated systems, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making, while in IT, it shows up through AI tools and advanced system automation. My partner did mention, though, that using AI is great as a reference, but when emails are written without your own words, it’s more obvious when AI is used. He also highlighted the importance of cybersecurity hardware and infrastructure in IT. A fun fact my partner brought up while we were talking about cybersecurity was that some places now use digital driver’s licenses. We agreed that adult education must adapt to society’s need for continuous learning, digital literacy, and upskilling to help professionals stay current in evolving industries. We also shared the idea that people prefer micro credentials and shorter programs, such as certificates, rather than long academic courses. Lastly, my partner also mentioned that people are shifting more towards skill-based training rather than just broad theoretical knowledge, which leads to faster adaptation to business needs and advancement in one’s career.
